Bark a bout Air Dog Club Hosts UAD Competition

Time flies- just like our Dock Diving Dogs!  It is now time for the 2012 Ultimate Air Dog Competition and Open House at Bark-A-Bout.  We are celebrating tons of things-  Our 3rd year in business, which just keeps on getting better because of our wonderful clients and hardworking staff.  And, of course, the Bark a bout Air Dog Club.

The Bark a bout Air Dog Club meets year round at Bark-A-Bout to discuss these competitions, make plans for the next event, and to provide swim practice for those who are willing to get into the water.

The UAD competition is open to ALL dogs-  pre-registration is required.  Please visit our website at http://barkaboutairdogs.com/events.html for more information about this exciting event and to register your dog for a dock diving experience.

We will also have swims in between competition.

We LOVE to celebrate all holidays at Bark-A-Bout.  Especially ones like Mother’s Day.

We hope that all of our four footed clients are able to get and give some extra love and attention to their two or four footed Moms today.

No matter what celebration you are planning for Mother’s Day, Bark-A-Bout wishes all a happy day-   We know how much our mothers love their mutts.  Well, not MUTTS, but you know……their four footed kids.  Some are mixed breeds, some are purebreed, some are “doodles” and some are just plain mutts.  No matter where they came from, our clients dote on their four footed kids.

And, we have some photos of mothers with their “kids” coming into Bark-A-Bout.  Some come here for daycare, some for swimming, but mostly our clients LOVE to play, play, play.  And that is what it is all about when it comes to our pets.

It’s been a month or so since opening day at the ball park, and the 2012 baseball season is officially under way. At Bark-A-Bout, now is the pefect time for our clients to get out and get some fresh air in the outdoor play yard.

Bark-A-Bout’s outdoor and indoor play areas are available for all doggie daycare and hotel guests.   In this play area, some of our dogs like to play their own version of ball.

Here’s a cute clip of Sparkles, our resident outfielder.  Sparkles can play for HOURS! and never get tired.  But when he gets home, it’s another story.  Sparkles runs out his energy here in the yard, and goes home one happy dog.

If I didn’t see it, I wouldn’t have believed it!-  Poof-  Autumn was pink.   Well, part pink that is. 

Melanie worked with Autumn most of the afternoon last week, getting her ready for her big debut in the Bark for Life Relay Walk for Cancer.  Autumn hung right in there as Melanie primped and pampered her.  Manic Panic Pink was applied appropriately, and without any problems.  In fact, Autumn looks like she’s having a day at the “spa”

Bark-A-Bout has been voted Best of Detroit’s Groomers, and this video highlights why we are the best at helping our pets put their best foot forward, especially for special events.

Autumn the Standard Poodle gets pampered for the Bark for Life Walk

Q.  What kind of woman can strut down the catwalk, in a drop-dead gorgeous REAL PINK fur coat and make all the others DROOL with envy?

A.  Lady Gaga’s pet Poodle?

B.  Um….how about Autumn, our famous Doga Doggie?

Yes!  Good answer!  (we don’t even know if Lady Gaga has a pet poodle), but that’s ok. 

Bark A Bout has Autumn- our official Zen Doga Dog who happens to be the Standard Poodle Du Jour! 

Everyone knows that a well-groomed and well-mannered Standard Poodle is a showstopper at any event, but at Bark-A-Bout, we have a plethora of poodles that are worthy of thier status.

However, one of our more a active four footed clients is “Putting on the Pink” for an exclusive Bark For Life Breast Cancer Walk.   That’s right-  Autumn, our Zen Doga dog, is going from the Doga Mat to the Groom Room for her chance to get  P’inked for show. 

Our ”Best of Detroit” winning dog groom team is going to work on Autumn this Thursday, April 19th.  Angie and Melanie will be using their cutting edge technology and expert design skills to prep Autumn for her big day.  In fact, I think they are in the “color kitchen” right now, mixing up the Perfect Pink for Autumn to sport next Saturday, April 21st at the walk.

Autumns owners are very involved in advocacy work in and out of the canine community.  They truly enjoy volunteering their time, along with their pets time, to help other two and four footed friends.  The Michigan Bark for Life Event, will be held at Lake St. Clair Metropark or better known as “Metro Beach” for the locals,  from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. on April 21.

At Bark-A-Bout, we don’t even really NEED a reason to act like animals- we just expect our clients to be safe and have fun.  Sometimes we just bring out the holiday gear and say “Go for It”

Our pets love dressing up for photos just as much as our staff!  Zeus let us put the ears on him for a flash, and then the Siberian Husky decided that she wanted to play Bark-A-Bunny.

No worries, our staff wore the ears and headpieces prior to putting on the pets (or did they………????) In any case, we enjoy having fun with our clients every day, especially special seasonal events such as our little Easter gathering.  Happy Spring Break to all who were able to get out and enjoy the fresh spring air.

April is Prevention of Animal Cruelty Month, and Bark-A-Bout is always advocating for rescue organizations and other animal causes.

We believe that all animals have equal rights, and that pets need to be treated with respect and care.  Our professional staff is well trained in all areas of pet care, and we are the only Pet Resort in the Shelby Township area that has it’s own Vet Tech and animal care system on grounds.

All of our employees are trained in CPR and First Aid training by American Red Cross.  We have training classes once a month to keep other up to date on all animal safety tips.

After all, if a dog and cat (in photos) can stay together in harmony, why can’t we help the other animals?!  If you would like more information regarding Bark-A-Bout’s animal advocacy, please visit our website page and click on our links for more info.

We also have various brochures in the lobby, and we have our specials posted and running throughout the facility.

On Tuesday night, Bark-A-Bout hosted a Teacup party.  This is a special time for our smaller four-footed friends to get together upstairs in the training room and have a little play time.

We met some new friends this time, like Jasper, a Westie from across the pond–( Yes, Europe!).  Jasper was visiting his cousin-Libby (a chorkie).  Hazel Dodson, the human featured in the video, is Libby’s mom and Jasper’s canine sister.  Got you confused yet?  In any case, let’s send out a  special “ Thank you” to both Hazel and her mom Morag for bringing the doggie cousins in for a playdate.  Especially since Morag and Jasper were headed to Scotland the very next day!  (Yes, I asked about the Loch Ness Monster. No sightings yet!)

We also had a darling 8 month old Chuhuhua pup named Rocko, an adorable yorkie mix named Peyton, and our beloved Tortilla, who has appeared in several of our videos.  These tiny teacups had a blast running, playing, and socializing with each other.  A good time was had by all.  Thanks teacups- you may be tiny, but you sure have a mighty good time.
